Celtics Four-Point Play 7-31

In that edition of the Four-Point Play, I’ll take a look at what Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are up to these days, I’ll form not of a worthy effort put forth by Brian Scalabrine, and I’ll reminisce on the one-year anniversary of Garnett’s trade to the Celtics.

1. Paul Pierce was recently in Spain for three days with Boys and Girls of the Bancaja campus in Madrid. He told reporters there something very interesting:

Q: Celtics fans have suffered a lot these last few years. Does that title signal the end of that black period?

A: I hope so, at least for as lengthy as I am on the team. I will play there for the next five years and I hope to win each year, or at least as much as possible.

This is VERY interesting, considering he’s only signed for three more years. Paul could be hiding something, but I bet he was just trying to get rid of the reporter.
It could additionally have been a slip, as five is a pretty common number to just blurt out. I wouldn’t take Paul’s word to heart, but it bears watching.

2. Ray Allen played some celebrity golf last weekend at the Ahmad Rashad Celebrity Classic at Mohegan Sun.

Ray Allen is doing what all champions do in their offseason: play a little golf. Allen, however is doing it all for a good cause which is nice.
I could imagine it being fun playing golf with Bill Murray, who has to be one of the funniest actors still in Hollywood. It’s probably more

fun soaking up your first NBA championship. Soak it up Ray!

3. Players from around the NBA, including Brian Scalabrine, held the seventh annual Play for Peace basketball clinic at the Seeds of Peace worldly Camp in Otisfield, Maine on Monday.

“Really, though, It’s all about the kids out here. It’s about teamwork, about working together. I’ve been doing that, that is my fifth year now, and every year I get more and more involved.” - Brian Scalabrine

It was Scalabrine’s fifth visit overall to the camp, who has been very charitable in his instance with the Celtics.
Lakers guard Jordan Farmar was plus there, and Scal was quick to rub in his NBA Finals win (in joking fashion of course). Good for Scal!

4. One year ago, the Celtics traded Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, and two first round picks for Kevin Garnett.

Obviously, we had big expectations for the team at the instance, but no one could’ve imagined an NBA Finals victory. Might I point out again that I had the Celtics in the Finals in my preseason picks…
Anyway, it was an amazing accomplishment despite the teams overall dominance all season. A few folks, like Doc Rivers, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and particularly Kevin Garnett, got the monkey off their backs in winning their first elusive title. previously known as some of the best players to never win an NBA title, the New Big Three all each have one of their own.
