Forest Hills Gets a Bike Cage

Bike riders in Boston got the short end of the stick with the MBTA opened its first bike cage in Alewife, the last stop on the Red Line, in the city of Cambridge. But now, thanks to a wad of cash from ARRA, a/k/a the stimulus bill, the T will be opening its first Boston bike cage, at Forest Hills station in Jamaica Plain. According to the T, the bike cage was built “to accommodate

100 bicycles will provide customers with a safe, secure, and sheltered location to park their bikes.” It will be accessible only with a Bike CharlieCard, which will give users access to any of the bike cages in the system. Those of you in the more northerly neighborhoods, don’t fret. The T still has a chunk of the $4.8 million stimulus check and plans to build up to 10 bike cages at stations throughout the system.
