Sports Redux: Stuffed

Remember a couple of weeks ago, when Claude Julien said he was getting tired of hard-fought losses? Well, last night must have exhausted him. The Bruins played stifling defense on Florida (holding them to one shot in the second period) and Tim Thomas battled through a cold to stop 23 shots, to follow his shutout of Pittsburgh with another solid effort. But the B’s’ offense couldn’t solve Tomas Vokoun, and had to settle for one point when the Panthers slipped one by Thomas in the shootout. Thomas spoke for the team in his bummed postgame comments: "I just wanted to get the 2 points. We outplayed them, we got the better chances overall." The Bruins had some good long-term news, as Milan Lucic skated and practiced with the team for the first time since breaking his finger. He hopes to come back to the ice in a week or so: "Everything felt like everything’s healing right.

It’s all positive from here." The Patriots and Colts are too professional and mutually respectful to give each other a lot of column-filling motivational material (speaking of which, we saw Joey Porter on milk cartons all over Miami after proclaiming that his Dolphins would beat the Pats last week). So the Herald takes a look at Tom Brady’s psyche and future , and basically likes what it sees. From the other point of view, the Indianapolis Star has a pretty good rivalry recap if you’re late to the party. The Celtics play Atlanta tonight; it’s been a year since their epic playoff series, so there’s no special drama tonight, unless you count Shelden Williams going against his old team . But he doesn’t consider it a big deal, so neither will we. The Hawks are just another obstacle en route to 81-1.
